WINNIE

We were asked to help this lovely dog after he was found straying in the North . He was in a poor way... extremely underweight, stressed and epileptic.. we knew he would need a special foster and careful management to get all under control ....

His fosterers have been amazing and here is the story so far!

WINNIE came to us 6 weeks ago, underweight and struggling with his epilepsy. He has been a happy, amazing natured little chap from day 1, but just couldn’t get any sleep at all.

His nose was so closed up that it was incredibly hard for him to breathe. He would wake with a gasp constantly. He seemed to never make it to deep sleep, and would spend all day dozing off, whether he was sitting or standing - his head would nod.

The first night we set up a bed on the floor next to us and next to our other dog Milo, but he instantly refused and made himself comfortable on our bed. He has spent every night there since.

He has had a few fits since being with us, but now being back on regular meds, supported with doses of MCT and CBD, and specially prepared calming gravy these have become infrequent and very minor episodes that we are managing without diazepam.

Over the six weeks, he has grown more and more affectionate, and loves nothing more than a lap or a crook in your arm to doze off in. He is truly the sweetest boy, without a bad bone in his body. He loves to play with our children in the garden, and cuddle up with Milo, his new friend!

Today Winnie had surgery to enlarge his nostrils. We picked him up 3 hours ago, and since we have been home, he has been fast asleep for the first time since he came to us. Catching up on a lifetime of lost sleep.

Massive thanks to his amazing foster family and many thanks to our vets Hawthorns Veterinary Practice in Henfield and if anyone would like to donate towards his care/medication we are always immensely grateful thank you.  Donate
