OUR Shelter DOGS
Every now and then Arundawn finds a dog that is either too poorly, has too many behavioural issues, or is just a bit 'different' that we know they need a special kind of home and environment in which to feel comfortable.
The Arundawn Shelter Programme came into existence as a result of us finding more and more of these waifs and strays in the pound system and we knew we could do something to help.

One of our longer term members of the Shelter Programme. Izzy was taken to a vet to be euthanised because 'she would not walk'. In reality, Izzy was twice her healthy body weight and suffering from an untreated, severe thyroid condition.
She arrived an anxious dog suffering from abandonment. She was barely able to walk a few steps and struggling with skin and breathing issues.
Her thyroid levels still fluctuate, her skin and allergies can be challenging, and her diet and medication must be monitored closely. More recently, she also underwent surgery to remove a large mass, from which she has made a full recovery. She is a wonderful, gentle dog, that is thriving and loving life.

Jasper arrived in very poor condition having been seized by Police on welfare grounds. Sadly he was one of the last to be 'rescued' so was confused and unsure on arrival.
He was in appalling condition with little hair and extremely underweight but has since thrived and loves 'tootling' and playing when he feels like it!
Jasper has arthritis and is on joint supplements, along with regular osteopath sessions with Marina. He is also on a special home-cooked diet due to his sensitive skin and mobility.

When Fara initially arrived, we believed she was palliative. We are delighted this is not the case and she is now living with Amy, Glenn & Arthur in permanent foster. She is hugely friendly with people and all other dogs and loves nothing more than a cuddle and a tummy rub.
She is on a number of medications and supplements to try and reduce the swelling in her lymph nodes and get on top of any infections. She has a nasty fungal skin infection which is currently being treated and will need an extensive dental in due course.
