You may remember that on the 31st May we posted this gorgeous boy needing foster - he is 13 yrs old and was a dumped dog and a welfare case! He was horribly underweight and very anxious!

​

Good friends of ours and long time rescue supporters Emma and John stepped forward straight away to offer to foster him (they already have an Arundawn 'oldie' and could separate if needed).

​

As you can see - Sam is pretty much unrecognisable in under 4 weeks!!!

​

He is thriving on a raw diet, is neutered and his blood tests were all remarkably 'unremarkable'!

​

He really is ready to find his forever home - his manner and behaviour definitely belies his years.

​

He loves to walk, he likes the company of another female dog and he would love someone around a lot of the time while he settles!

Emma and John say ..........

​

'My sister and nephew visited and he loved having people around, he was great with my nephew who is 7 and noisy. Sam wants to be with people and enjoys a cuddle and giving kisses, he is our shadow! He is now 24kg and probably only another kg to gain to bring him to his optimum weight. He does regularly fall on one of his front legs and can 'face plants' but he is not too fazed by this and may benefit from an orthopaedic support in the future. He recently saw a cat about 7 metres away and was mildly interested but not bothered in chasing. He really is SO gentle with taking treats from your hand unlike the average Labrador! We do have to take him out straight into the garden when he wakes up otherwise he may have an accident. He is a quick learner He has only been with us a short time and is already very settled. He has now started to have zoomies around the garden which is so fun to watch although he is over optimistic and forgets his age and sometimes falls over as his back legs can't keep up with him. He is keen to meet other dogs but not over the top, has had a couple of dogs grumble at him but completely unfazed and a bit dopey about it. He walks quite fast but slows down in the woods, enjoys a walk of about 30-40mins can't really do more than that”
