ROCKY & SAFFI's story so far!
28th December update:
Some of the VERY BEST NEWS!!!
SAFFI & ROCKY have landed in foster .... Just the perfect Xmas present!!!
I cannot tell you how we all wished for this for these gorgeous dogs... You will remember SAFFI was nearly PTS as showed massive fear reaction in kennels.
She had extensive surgery to remove gum overgrowth and suffered several seizures until we got her onto suitable epilepsy medication.
The pair are totally reliant on each other and we had so desperately needed to find a foster for them together... A MASSIVE ask but a lovely couple offered and off they have gone (see photos below).
Thank you for all the shares and support for these two dogs. It really DOES make a difference!!
2nd December update:
This morning I took these two off to our vets to be neutered, blood tested, teeth checked and sorted and any other works needed in the immediate. They were both AMAZING and so well behaved and Saffi didn't stop wagging her tail!
More pupdates to follow.....
Initial information:
On 22nd October a local dog warden received a call to collect two dogs that had 'apparently' been found running loose in a local park.
There was a little boy and his father with the dogs and the story was that they had caught them and phoned the council then waited over 2 hours for them to arrive.
This 'may' have been the case, although the little boy was sad and said 'goodbye Rocky' and Saffi would not let the dog warden anywhere near her but was very happy with the male 'finder' (owner ) and allowed him to pop her in the van as she was going for the dog warden when he arrived, and the little boy put Rocky in.
Poor Saffi was totally unhandleable and had to have a catch pole used on her to get her into the Kennels!
The little boy said he was going to miss 'Rocky' and his father told him not to be silly as they had only just found them - A little odd that the poor dog vomited a name tag for a dog called Rocky up when he arrived at the pound kennels.
If ANYONE recognises the dogs please feel free to contact us with any information.
Going forward - Rocky needed to see a vet as skin was pretty appalling and little Saffi was deemed too 'dangerous' and aggressive to release to rescue as she could not be handled at all and no one could enter the kennel! If anyone walked past she was flying at the bars.
Saffi has clearly been bred from multiple times and maybe outlived her 'usefulness'!
Thankfully the pound owner and I have an excellent 'working relationship' and after discussion I felt that Saffi would have been unlikely to reach her 7 yrs had she been that aggressive!
Then it was a case of waiting for a kennel to become free here with me in order to bring the pair over to give her a chance.
We put these pups onto Valerian and Scullcap to ease the anxiety and finally last Sunday 24th Nov they arrived.....
...Saffi was terrified and showed fear reactivity to all the other dogs and to all of us too initially but this started to subside very quickly.
On Monday 25th Saffi had a massive fit lasting some 10 minutes and I thought that we really would have to make the call none of us wanted ....
...but something (I have no idea what) played its hand and I couldn't make that call!
..and...these photos are taken just 3 and 4 days later ....
We will be working with both dogs as Rocky is 10 yrs old and Saffi 7 yrs old and we hope we will be able to find them a perfect home ... but whatever happens they are safe and warm and dry and will be being neutered.
Please complete our application form to register your interest - whether you could be a long-term foster or a forever home - for these lovely dogs. We would like to home them together. Thank you.
