In light of the situation with Covid 19, we wanted to keep you up to date with how we are dealing with this at Arundawn. Everyone is wondering what will happen and we realise these are ‘scarey’ times sadly.
We will NOT be stopping taking dogs in unless legislation says we can't! There will be dogs that need us now more than ever.
With regret we will not be allowing any visitors to the premises until further notice. We are very grateful for the many offers of help from people wishing to volunteer but feel it is sensible to restrict all movements as much as possible.
We will endeavour to continue to process applications to the best of our ability however certain restrictions will mean that we will be limited in the number we can action.
We will endeavour to complete a limited initial check via a video call and carry forward as best we can to continue to safely and responsibly place dogs in need. We do not expect our home checkers or applicants to put themselves at risk at any point & will only resume home visits once it is safe to do so.
Virtually all our fundraising events for the first half of the year have understandably been cancelled. Fetes, fairs, ‘Pets at Home’ days are no longer going ahead. This leaves us in a VERY poor situation as far as funds are concerned, particularly as we have a continuous flow of vets bills and costs to cover. The last three dogs taken in have all had major health problems and been dumped or handed in almost certainly as a result of financial concerns raised by the current crisis… and so the begging bowl is out I'm afraid. We are planning to start some more online fundraising very soon which we hope you will join in with if you can.
THANK YOU ALL for your support past, present and in the future too and please all stay safe
Elaine and ALL the Arundawn Team xx
