This lovely girl was handed in after being found running loose in a field near a main road.

Scruffy is a Bedlington Whippet crossed with some other breed/s. We have had a lot of enquiries but I am sure most did not realise her size! Scruffy is not a small Bedlington Whippet - she is more like the size of a Collie (Scruffy weighs approx 22kg; stands approx 23" TTS). She's around 15 months old and lively, very playful, and affectionate.

Scruffy had severely damaged her front leg and has been on crate rest with her leg splinted and more recently left without a splint as she was getting pressure sores even though we tried several different types.

Our options were/are to have surgery at an orthopaedic referral practice - to fuse the carpal joint using plates, at an estimated cost of £6,000-7,000 - OR to help her by using a supportive splint when out and about and see how she gets on. The surgery does not have any guarantees of success and at this time, with how she manages and runs, we are leaning towards leaving all as is at the moment.

Scruffy will be looking for her perfect forever home in 2022 but her requirements are exact:

A rural home with land to free run safely at her leisure, rather than enforced/controlled exercise

A home with other dogs who will play but not push too hard

Scruffy is a wonderful dog who needs a perfect home to help her continue her recovery. If you can offer Scruffy the space and care she needs, please contact us or complete an application form.
