MAX

Update 1st Feb:

14 month old neutered male

After a few too many changes in this stunning young dogs life, he settled beautifully into foster with an HPR breeds experienced lady.

His initial separation anxiety has reduced but he is a very 'needy' young dog. In the main due to the many changes and his breed traits not being understood.

He is still quite protective over his food so needs separating to feed but other than this he is a bit of a 'wuss' Lydia says

He loves to learn and can now wait with the ball until told to retrieve it.

He is very happy in the company of other dogs but does insist on sleeping on the bed still at the moment so anyone considering adopting Max MUST take this into consideration as he WILL find any way to be with his human/s at night time still. This will be a work in progress after adoption ..

SO in brief - an active, outdoor lifestyle home who understands the breed and its requirements and has at least one other dog or more please.

Original information:

Max is a 14 month old Weimaraner who has been neutered already.

He is not cat friendly and not tested with young children under 12.

He has the most beautiful temperament and is an incredibly gentle boy.

He is still learning but has manners and is very quick to pick up new commands and words.

He is very loving & loyal and will want to be as close to his human as possible.

Max suffers with severe separation anxiety at the moment and cannot tolerate even a few minutes alone.

We feel he needs several days/weeks in a home to begin to 'decompress' and possibly some assistance with medication to help break the cycle of anxiety when 'left'!

We are looking for a foster/view to forever to work with him and us to give him the time needed to learn to gain trust and confidence.

He is a young and timid boy who currently craves the comfort and reassurance of a human... He bonds very quickly.

He will need a loving, patient home with firm, clear and consistent boundaries to help overcome his fears and gradually work on his separation anxiety.

Max needs a home with experience of HPR breeds who can understand the prey drive, energy levels and importance of mental stimulation and focussed, ongoing training.

He is wonderful off lead and has excellent recall, he will not wander far from his human, and really loves to run and play and explore the outdoors.

Max has not really had much socialisation with other dogs but shows promising signs of really enjoying having a playmate.

Despite his size, Max is one of the gentlest, softest souls.

Due to his size, he will need a home with plenty of both indoor and outdoor space, and he would benefit from one companion dog or more to help him feel less anxious when his owners aren’t in his direct presence.

He will make an amazing companion, and with the time and space to give him those boundaries, he will grown into a perfect dog.

Please only apply if you have read the above and feel you can commit the time needed to help Max - but if you can we just know he will make the most WONDERFUL companion!

Please complete the application form on this site - thank you
