FELIX
Felix is a beautiful boy and doing so well in foster and is more than ready for his forever home.
His fosterer has the following to report:
"We first met Felix at the emergency boarding kennels who were doing a great job with him but he was becoming more anxious, losing weight and institutionalised. This was fuelling his anxieties and making him unlikely to find a forever home. You could see in his eyes he was a beautiful dog but his size and lack of interaction was making it difficult for him to join in with other dogs. He was basically a puppy in a 40kg frame who had been passed from pillar to post in his short life.
We decided to take him on a weekend away from the kennels to see if that would help. Jump to the present day and he interacts really well with the other 3 dogs in his foster home and whilst he still has anxious moments has calmed down and relaxed as he has learnt to trust his surroundings. He is a super affectionate dog who loves human interaction – he forms a strong bond with his humans and will look to curl up in a ball next to you on the sofa or in bed at night. He has been left for up to 4 hours with no issues other than the excitable welcome you get when you return. Given his size any adopter would need to continue work with his training - he has recently completed a course of scent training which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Felix is an absolute sweetheart who is looking for his forever home. He will need an active home (he loves long walks and meeting people and other dogs) and whilst he is used to the company of other dogs, in the right circumstances he could be an only dog. Due to his past and his anxious nature there will be a settling in period where he comes to terms with his environment but the result will be well worth it. He is a big loveable lump who generally walks well on the lead but will need continued training, especially when a cat or squirrel is nearby.
Please consider giving this special dog a chance as he has really been with the rescue for too long and needs a chance."
